UAE: The UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has announced that certain categories of delayed Emirates ID renewals in the UAE will be exempted from fines.
As per this notification the following categories (including citizens and non-residents) are exempted from penalty for delay in renewal of Emirates ID.
Those who have stayed outside the UAE for more than three months after returning home from the UAE. This penalty will be waived if their Emirates ID expires after the date of their return from the UAE.
In the context of the expiration of the validity of the ID of those who have been smuggled out of the UAE as per the official order. This exemption is available to those who have official documents related to this. Those who have not received an ID card in the period leading up to the UAE citizenship.
Those who do not renew their Emirates ID within 30 days of the expiry date will be fined AED 20 for each day of delay (up to a maximum of AED 1,000). No special fees shall be levied for applications for waiver of this penalty for the above categories.
