Air India has launched its first Airbus A350 aircraft, which will enter service on the 22 jan 2024

India and Air India launched their first Airbus A350 aircraft on Thursday. Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated the Wings India 2024 in Hyderabad. Air India will receive six more A350 aircraft by May this year

The domestic service of the first flight will start by January 22. It will gradually shift to international routes. Company CEO and MD Campbell Wilson said that the A350 aircraft is a game changer for Air India.

This not only enhances our passenger experience but also opens new routes and opportunities for expansion. This upgrade of aircraft and products will bring Air India back to the top of the world’s aviation scene, said the Air India CEO.

The A350 is equipped with powerful and fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. It can fly up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 km) non-stop, and will now have the A350 for non-stop flights from India to North America and Australia.

Air India’s A350-900 comes with 316 seats in three classes. Business Class has 28 private suites in a 1-2-1 configuration, each with direct aisle access and sliding privacy doors.

At the touch of a button, suite chairs transform into large beds. Each suite has a shelf, ample stowage space for electronics, shoes and other amenities and a convenient mirror. A 21-inch HD touchscreen and video handset provide passengers with an immersive entertainment experience, along with universal A/C and USB-A power outlets,” an Air India statement said.

There are 24 premium economy seats in a 2-4-2 configuration. It offers legroom with a 38-inch seat pitch. Each seat has a 4-way adjustable headrest and leg rest, along with a 13.3-inch HD touchscreen, universal AC and USB-A power outlets, Air India said.

It comes with 264 economy seats in a 3-4-3 configuration. There is 31 inches of space between the seats. Economy classes have a 12-inch HD touch screen.

Air India’s A350 aircraft, which will start its domestic service on January 22, will operate on Bengaluru-Chennai-Delhi-Hyderabad-Mumbai routes. It will then move on to international services. Air India has placed an order for 250 new aircraft, including 20 A350-1000 aircraft.
