Gujarat, the Land of the Legends, is the birthplace of many freedom fighters like the legendary Mahatma Gandhi- the Father of Nation, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and many others who fought the freedom struggle, infusing the qualities of tolerance, brotherhood, non-violence and patriotism into Indians.Stretches out into the Arabian Sea with a coastline of 1600 kms long, Gujarat is renowned for its beaches, temple towns and historic capitals. Sculpture, handicrafts, arts, festivals also make the state rich. Kevadia: Statue of Unity- the world’s tallest statue has been built as an ode to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first home minister of independent India. The 182-metre (600 feet aprox.) statue overlooks the vast surrounds and the river basin of the Narmada River and the sprawling Sardar Sarovar dam.
Bhavnagar: Nishkalank Mahadev Temple is a Hindu temple located at Koliyak near Bhavnagar, Gujarat. Situated in Koliyak Beach, it is one of the rarest sea temples in India you must include in your Gujarat trip and among the most visited places of pilgrimage in Bhavnagar. Located about a kilometer into the sea, the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is submerged during high tides in the sea and emerges during low tides to reveal itself majestically, promising its devotees to wash away all sins. During the high tide, the idol of the lord is submerged and all that can be seen are the flag and a pillar.
Somnath: The Somnath temple located in Veraval in Saurashtra on the western coast of Gujarat, India is believed to be the first among the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva. It is an important pilgrimage and tourist spot of Gujarat.

Places to visit includes Kriti Mandir s memorial house in memory of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi located in the city of Porbandar. The Sudama temple stands in the middle of the bustling market area of Porbandar. The temple has been built to commemorate the friendship between Lord Krishna and his trusted friend, Sudama.
Dwarka: Dwarka is an ancient city in the northwestern Indian state of Gujarat. The ancient Dwarkadhish Temple has an elaborately tiered main shrine, a carved entrance and a black-marble idol of Lord Krishna. The pilgrimage to Dwarka is said to be complete if the following circuit is covered in the given order. (i) Dwarkadish Temple, Nageshwer Temple (another Jyotirling), Gopi Talav, Bet Dwarka and finally Rukmini Mata Mandir.
Ahmedabad: Situated in the heart of Gujarat, Ahmedabad District is home to the city of Ahmedabad which is the largest city in the state. Sabarmati Ahsram- Inaugurated by his contemporary Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi’s erstwhile home has been converted to a simple but engaging museum.
