With the announcement of the date of Lok Sabha elections, people are ready to cast their votes.
Voting for 543 seats in the country will be held in seven phases. The first phase of voting will be held on April 19 and the final phase of voting on June 1. The result will be announced on June 4. The Chief Election Commissioner has informed that this time the focus is on providing more facilities to the voters.
To vote, it is important to have your name in the electoral roll of the Election Commission. The electoral roll will change from time to time. At this point some names may have been removed from the list for various reasons. So it is important to check if your name is in the list before the election.
How to check online?
- Visit the portal ‘https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/” on your phone, computer or laptop using any web browser
- On the following page you will find three options to search the name (Search by Details, Search by EPIC, Search by Mobile)
- If you select ‘Search by Details‘ then enter the required details like your name, surname and date of birth. Then enter the captcha and click ‘Search‘.
- If you select ‘Search by EPIC’ then enter Language (Voter ID Number), State and Captcha and click ‘Search’.
- If selecting ‘Search by Mobile‘ enter the state name and language. Then enter the registered mobile phone number and captcha and click ‘Search‘.
- If your name is in the voter list, it will appear on the screen. It will contain information about the parliamentary constituency, the assembly constituency and the booth (polling station) to vote. You can cast your vote using any ID card approved by the Election Commission. If the name is not there, then the name has to be added in the voter list.
