Making Waves: Kerala-Dubai Cruise To Connect Soon
Making Waves: Kerala-Dubai Cruise To Connect Soon
The plan to start operating a cruise ship service between Beypore (Kozhikode), Kochi, and Dubai has been approved. With room for up to 1,250 passengers, the journey should take no more than three days.
It goes without saying that India is interested in cruise tourism and is working hard to establish itself as a top cruise ship destination. The approval of the plan to begin the Beypore (Kozhikode)–Kochi–Dubai cruise ship service is the most recent development. Taking into account the demand from foreign travelers, the central government approved this 4000-kilometer route, which provides an inexpensive substitute with stunning views of the sea.
Anticipated to commence prior to December’s academic vacation, the route offers convenience at a third of the usual airfare. For a considerably lower price, travelers can bring up to 200 kg of luggage; one-way tickets range from INR 10,000 (Dh 442) to INR 15,000 (Dh 663). Working with freight firms, the ship can carry up to 1,250 passengers, reducing the average journey duration to three days.
The initiative’s goal of reducing astronomical flight costs for Indian expats in the UAE was emphasized by YA Rahim, President of the Indian Association Sharjah. With aspirations to eventually expand to Vizhinjam, the service mostly serves Kochi and Beypore.
When viewed in a larger perspective, these achievements are consistent with the government’s ultimate objective of positioning India as a top cruise destination worldwide.
A Consideration of Cruise Tourism Projects
The Ministry of tourists has developed a National Strategy for Cruise Tourism in an effort to establish India as a major cruise tourist center worldwide. During the Monsoon Parliament Session, Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy presented this information, emphasizing the government’s concerted efforts to increase cruise tourism in the nation.
This calculated action fits in with India’s recent efforts in the cruise sector, as demonstrated by Prime Minister Modi’s January 13, 2023, launch of the “World’s Longest River Cruise.” From Varanasi on the NW-1 (River Ganga) to Dibrugarh on the NW-2 (River Brahmaputra), the ship set off on a historic voyage that traveled through Bangladesh for almost 3200 kilometers. This historic voyage’s successful conclusion on February 28, 2023, in Dibrugarh, Assam, represents a critical turning point for India’s marine tourist industry.
Most remarkably, the Indian Ministry of Tourism has developed a comprehensive national strategy in an attempt to promote sustainable growth in cruise tourism. The goal of this roadmap is to establish India as a premier cruise destination offering a variety of cruise experiences, including river, coastal, and ocean excursions. Under the sub-brand “Incredible Cruises in India,” the campaign aims to highlight India’s attraction as a cruise tourist hub.
In accordance with this strategy, the Ministry intends to work with state and port authorities to establish international cruise terminals that are open year-round and designed to handle huge, mega sea trips. The policy also promotes river cruise tourism, which highlights historical monuments, places of worship, and wildlife sanctuaries.
