In the Indian music scene, Sai Abhyankar is a rising talent in the roles of composer, programmer, and singer. Born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on February 14, 2003, he hails from a musically successful family: his parents, Tippu and Harini, are well-known playback singers in Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada. Sai’s parents pushed him to explore singing, composition, and learning instruments including the piano, guitar, and drums, so music was a part of his early childhood. He was gifted academically as well, doing exceptionally well at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan. Sai became interested in computing and programming in addition to music, taking part in hackathons and contests.
With his voice on Siddharth Vipin’s “Thirumanam Theme” song from the Tamil film Thirumanam in 2019, Sai, then just 16 years old, made his playback singing debut. For the same movie, he and his mother Harini sang a duet. Sai’s big break, meanwhile, came in 2020 when his self-penned and produced maiden independent single, “Katchi Sera,” a Tamil-English fusion song, was released. The song became an internet success because to its catchy melody and colorful visual, garnering over 2.3 million views on YouTube and establishing him as a promising new artist. He collaborated with composer Anirudh Ravichander on the teaser and trailer for the upcoming Tamil movie Pathuthala as an extra programmer.
