Wayanad; 2.90 lakh tourists came for the Christmas holiday

The season of Christmas and New Year celebrations proves that wayanad becomes the most popular tourist destination in Kerala.

People from North India were flocking to Wayanad during this holiday.

After passing through Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh and reaching Maharashtra and Gujarat, tourists from all over came this time. With the New Year celebrations dusted off, this time it was grand. More than twice as many people came to Wayanad for the Christmas-New Year celebrations as compared to the previous holiday season.

From December 20 to January 2, 2.90 lakh people visited Wayanad. The increase in the number is also proof that Wayanad is becoming a favorite destination for tourists after every holiday celebration. Last year, when Vishu and Easter came together, one and a half lakh people visited the district in 10 days.

About one and a half lakh people reached the Onam season as well. There has been a huge increase in the number of tourists for the Puja holiday. 1.25 lakh people visited the district in four days. Tourists flocked to Wayanad to celebrate Christmas and New Year. 1.28 lakh tourists visited the centers under DTPC. 77,826 people visited Banasurasagar Dam from December 24 to January 2.

66,832 people visited Karapuzha Dam from 23rd to 31st December. From December 21 to 31, about 20,000 people visited. From other districts of Kerala as well as from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and some foreign countries
