Chinese smart phone company Xiaomi has launched its first electric car. The company officially launched the car on Thursday. The company has announced that it aims to become one of the top five car manufacturers in the world. Named SU7, Xiaomi’s car has features based on their mobile phone operating system.
The Company CEO Lee Jun said that the goal is to become one of the best car manufacturers in the world in the next five years through hard work. Xiaomi announced that it will launch electric cars in 2021 as part of business diversification.
Xiaomi’s SU7 is a car similar to Tesla’s Model S. The length of the car is 4997 mm. It measures 1455 mm in height, 1,963 mm in width and has a wheelbase of 3000 mm. The company will launch the car in two variants based on battery storage.
The car will come with a 73.6kW battery pack and a 101kW battery pack. SU7 will travel 800 km on a single charge. Xiaomi also plans to launch a 1200 km range variant with a 150kW battery pack.
It gets 299 hp power from the base variant and 374 hp power in the top model. The maximum torque is 635 Nm. The lower variant has a top speed of 210 kmph. The top model can reach a top speed of 265 kmph.
Xiaomi’s car will also have self-driving features including autonomous parking.
