The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) under the Union Ministry of Labor has issued a notification that Aadhaar card is no longer valid as a proof of date of birth. Following the directions of the Unique Identification Authority of India, EPFO ​​has decided to remove Aadhaar as proof of date of birth. This will directly affect billions of subscribers in the country.

What is the reason?

Many beneficiaries submit Aadhaar as proof of date of birth. As per Aadhaar Act 2016, Aadhaar is not accepted as proof of date of birth. UIDAI emphasized that it can be used as an identity document but not as a proof of date of birth.
