New Delhi – The central government has changed the conditions for obtaining Aadhaar for Indians living abroad. According to this, the non-residents have to use special forms to get Aadhaar.All overseas Indians with a valid Indian passport are eligible for Aadhaar. There is no difference between adults and children.
Non-residents can collect Aadhaar from any Aadhaar Entitlement Centre. But a valid Indian passport is the only identity document accepted from non-residents to get Aadhaar. Born after October 1, 2023, both overseas Indians and non-Indians must also produce a birth certificate.
E-mail address must be provided by non-residents while taking Aadhaar. Aadhaar service SMS will not be received on foreign phone numbers. Along with this, the Unique Identification Authority has also released information on forums to be used by different age groups for Aadhaar enrollment and other services. They are as follows.
It is the number one forum to be used for Aadhaar Enrollment and Corrections by Natives and Overseas Indians above 18 years of age and domiciled in India.
Form No. 2 is to be used for Aadhaar Entitlement and Corrections by non-residents above 18 years of age giving foreign address.
Form number three is to be used for Aadhaar Enrollment and Corrections by Indian Residents and Overseas Indians between the age of five and 18 years and domiciled in India.
Form No.4 should be used for non-resident children aged between five and 18 years giving an address outside India.
Form No.5 is to be used for Aadhaar Entitlement and Corrections by Indian Residents and Overseas Indians under five years of age and domiciled in India.
Form number six is to be used for non-resident children below five years of age who are addressed outside India.
Persons above 18 years of age and permanent residents of India holding foreign passports. They should provide foreign passport, OCI card, valid long stay visa, Indian visa and e-mail address. They should use form number seven for Aadhaar.
