Corona patients are increasing in the country. In the last 24 hours, 602 people have reported corona subtype JN-1 in the country.
Five deaths were also reported yesterday. Two of these deaths are in Kerala. One each died in Karnataka, Punjab and Tamil Nadu.
At present, 4,440 people have been confirmed infected. Karnataka has the highest number of infected people. 199 cases were reported yesterday alone. Second is Kerala. 148 people have been infected in the last 24 hours. 47 cases in Goa, 36 in Gujarat, 32 in Maharashtra, 26 in Tamil Nadu, 15 in Delhi, four in Rajasthan, two in Telangana and one each in Odisha and Rajasthan yesterday.
The JN1 sub-variant was first detected in the country last August. It was derived from BA.2.86, a sub-variant of Omicron. But the World Health Organization has not yet confirmed that the new variant poses a significant threat. In addition to the usual covid symptoms, JN1 sufferers may also experience runny nose, fatigue, sore throat, hoarseness, and diarrhea.
