Sharjah-Oman bus service got off to a grand start even though it was a day later than it had been announced. The bus reached Sharjah Al Jubail station at 6.15 am and left at 6.45 am. There are twenty-five people including three Malayalis on the maiden voyage in Oman’s Muwaisalat bus with modern facilities. Enter Emirates Road via Sharjah Airport Road and travel to Oman via Kalba border.
The bus stopped at Kalba check post for 15 minutes around 8 am to drink tea etc. Here, after the immigration check, there is a facility to use the toilet etc. Lunch will also be mid-way. After a journey of 8 hours, the bus will reach Asaiba Bus Station in Muscat at 2.30 pm today. Passengers are allowed 7 kg hand bag and 23 kg luggage. The authorities had earlier announced that the bus service would start 27 February 2024.
100 dirhams for a one-way ticket; A one-way flight ticket from UAE to Oman costs AED 300 at immigration. 100 dirhams is enough for the bus. A fee of 30 dirhams has to be paid at the immigration at Kalba check post. (Some check posts do not charge this fee).
Visa on arrival is free for senior employees arriving in Oman from GCC countries including UAE. The visa will be valid for 14 days. Otherwise, e-Visa should be taken online. Tourist companies charge Dh500 for a 10-day tourist visa and Dh850 for a 30-day visa.

2 Bus Services Daily
There are two daily services from Asaiba Bus Station in Muscat to Al Jubail Station in Sharjah. The bus departing from Al Jubail at 6.30 am will reach Asaiba station at 2.30 pm and the bus departing at 4.00 pm will reach Asaiba station at 11.50 pm. The bus departing from Asaiba at 6.30 am will arrive at Sharjah Al Jubail station at 3.40 pm and the bus departing at 4.30 pm will arrive at Sharjah Al Jubail station at 1.10 am
Earlier, an agreement was reached between Oman National Transport Company Muwassalat and Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority to start a bus service between Muscat and Sharjah.
Tickets can be booked online and through websites Passengers can book tickets through the Oman Muwasalat website or through sales outlets at bus stations in both countries.
