Dubai: The RTA Air Taxi, which is set to become a reality in Dubai by the end of next year, will cost Dh350 per person. The US-based aviation company is behind it. The air taxi is designed so that passengers can enjoy beautiful city views from the sky. But the most important thing is to travel beyond the scenery without getting stuck in the traffic jams of the city.
Officials say the air taxis will reduce travel time between the two locations in Dubai by as much as 70 percent. It takes 45 minutes to an hour to travel by road from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah and 10 to 12 minutes by air taxi. Four passengers and the pilot can sit and carry luggage at a time. There is plenty of storage.
These air taxis will provide Dubai residents with a comfortable, hassle-free and convenient travel experience. It flies at a height of 500 to 1000 meters so you can travel calmly. But the height of flight depends on the distance traveled. For longer distances it will fly at a height of about 1,000 meters above the ground. 500m to 100m for shorter distances.
Commencement follows a six to eight week training program suitable for a commercial licensed pilot air taxi. This training will ensure that pilots are competent in navigating the skies safely and efficiently. Passengers can book their air taxi rides through the app developed by Jobi. They can also reserve a ride on Uber. Air taxis will fly even with only one passenger.
Officials also said that the air taxi can be fully charged from zero to 100 percent within 10 minutes. When landing at vertiports, the ground staff will connect the charging points immediately before the passengers disembark. Once new passengers board and the air taxi is ready for takeoff, the plugs are quickly removed and the charging process is completed. An air taxi is a combination of helicopter and airplane. That means it has the takeoff capabilities of a helicopter. And the smooth ride of an airplane.
